To seek out promising blockchain, cryptography, and web3 entrepreneurs and provide them with access to resources for prototyping and scaling solutions.
ACTIVITIES
List of core activities of the IBCOL Foundation to support its missions in blockchain, distributed ledger technology, decentralized apps, cryptography, and web3 ("blockchain")
PROGRAMS
To train, coach, consult, and advise students and young professionals in "blockchain" ("programs"); to assist in developing learning assets for programs worldwide; and, to certify programs worldwide.
GATHERINGS
To oversee the delivery and quality of conferences, conventions, and competitions (“gatherings”) that promote exchange and collaboration between "blockchain" student and practitioners.
WORKING GROUPS
To develop codes of conduct, best practices, and standards for "blockchain" areas through collaborative dialogue, research, and publications by groups of individuals and entities from academia, industry, and government ("working groups").
INFRASTRUCTURE
To develop and support a decentralized public utility for portable, trusted, academic and professional credentials and to lead a worldwide decentralized governance for trusted credentials interchange ("infrastructure").
PUBLICATION
To collect and curate a constellation of ideas, knowledge, research, developments, and other useful things on "blockchain" areas, through scholarly protocols.
POLLINATION
To work with a curated network of founders and funders that would accelerate the development of "blockchain" startups in the community.
HISTORY
PRE-PANDEMIC ERA
(2017 – 2019)
This era was marked by an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response from the two founding cities, Waterloo (Canada) and Hong Kong (China). The finals were held in Hong Kong, where 70% of the attendees were from outside the international city.
PANDEMIC ERA
(2020 – 2022)
This era saw activities shifting totally virtual or hybrid events worldwide. The focus of many solutions converged on identity and verifiable credential solutions, those potential became painfully apparent during this period of social isolation.
POST-PANDEMIC ERA
(2023 – Present)
This era began a new chapter of IBCOL, as the centre of gravity shifted to regulated industries and solution designs tackling the most pressing challenges of our times, embodied in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations (UN).
